About RJ Mickelson

RJ Mickelson is a documentary photographer based in New York City. He is currently Senior Staff Photographer/Photo Directer at amNewYork Newspaper, Manattan's most widely circulated newspaper. RJ has been shooting weddings, fine dining, and cultural events for over 6 years in New York City and his work has been published by New York Daily News, New York Magazine; New York Observer; New York Sun; The New York Times; Newsday; The Baltimore Sun; The Chicago Tribune; Los Angeles Times and Seed Magazine.

Prior to becoming a photographer, RJ worked as a Social Worker with gang-related youth in East San Jose, California, and following his move to New York City he worked as a Grief Counselor with families who lost loved ones on 9/11.
